Each year we help hundreds of wildlife babies return to nature. Most orphans stay in the center for close to 5 months before being released into their natural habitat healthy and strong.
PROJECT FLIGHT CAGE
I found a bird thatʼs hurt. I found an orphaned baby or immature bird. I picked up a bird that is stunned and canʼt fly. Instinctively, I have to do something. Who can help? Where can I take it?
Sadly, for any bird larger than a songbird, thereʼs no place for you to go and no one to call. There is no licensed facility to care for such birds within a half-a-dayʼs drive of Savannah. The bird you want to help will likely die or be euthanized. Savannah Wildlife Rescue Center wants to change that. For over a decade, this 501c3 non-profit organization has cared for injured and abandoned mammals and needs your support to do the same for birds. We have access to avian veterinarians and possess the grounds on which to build a flight cage, a facility required by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to obtain proper licensing.
Right now, we need $50,000 to accomplish Step One—Project Flight Cage. This cost covers site preparation and the fabrication of the necessary cages. Please help us raise the funds. Then we will have a place able to care for Savannahʼs incredibly diverse local and migratory bird population when they need our help.
